The mission of Hatfield McCoy Haven is to provide a safe and fun place for you and your family to get away on vacation, or business, or if you are coming to our area for fun.
Hatfield McCoy Haven was founded in 2022 when Michael, Lynn, and their son Jonathan came back to Kentucky, and has been an active part of the community ever since. Our founder Michael Has deep roots here in the area, He is the Great-Great-Grandson of Preacher Anderson C "Anse" Hatfield whom oversaw the famous Pig Trial, and is a 1st cousin 6 times removed of Asa Harmon McCoy, Randall McCoy, and Sarah "Sally" McCoy on his fathers side, as well as 3rd Cousin to Loretta Lynn and Crystal Gail on his mothers side of the family.
Our first renovation is a house that was brought back into the family by Lynn and Michael that was built by his Great-Grandfather Julius Scott and Great-Grandmother Polly 'Hatfield' Scott for his Uncle Charlie and Aunt Brookie Scott. Julius gave property to all of his children and had several houses built that the children may not travel far from home.
The home offers 1 King Bed (down stairs), 2 bedrooms upstairs that each have 2 Twin XL Beds each (note these two rooms can have the 2 beds moved together offering the ability for a King sized bed in those rooms), & a Queen Pull Out Couch in the living room, allowing it to sleep 8 easily in the beds. It also offers a Full Kitchen, Living Room, Dining Room w/ a large table and seating for 8, Washer and Dryer, Roku TV. Back Porch with Large Back Yard, BBQ Grill, and a Garden Hose outside for hosing off mud, Firepit, FREE WIFI, we will also be adding 2 porch swings on the front porch so you can enjoy the scenery and fresh mountain air. The property holds ample parking with security cameras, and easy access. There are several places nearby with Fuel, Groceries, Restaurants, and even a Wal-Mart all within 8 miles. Do not be surprised if you get a visit from some of our local Wildlife, our cameras have picked up pictures in the evenings of Deer and Rabbits.
It is surrounded by numerous of the KY Outlaw Trails soon to be Hillbilly Trails and a Main Trail Spot 3.8 miles on Hwy 1056, The Devil Anse Trails are 6.3 miles, and Buffalo Trails are 8.4 miles from the property on the HMT System in West Virginia. You can park your transport vehicle in the large backyard and travel around by your SXS or 4 wheeler if you wish during your stay since just about everything you may need is close by.
For the History Buffs, it is also centrally located in the middle of the Historic Hatfield McCoy Feud sites. This home is located in the middle of several Historic Sites: on one side 0.6 miles from the Randall McCoy Well where the home was burnt down January 1st, 1888 in the New Years Raid where Sarah was brutally beaten, and Alifair, and Calvin were killed. On the other side is the Reverend Anderson C. Hatfield aka "Preachar Anse" Home site where the Hog Trail was held in 1878, and the Stabbing of Ellison Hatfield occurred during the Election Day Fight in August 1882 is 2.2 miles. You are 4.7 miles from the marker for the site of the killing of Asa Harmon McCoy occurred on January 7th, 1865. The Pawpaw Tree Incident is 5.9 miles away, where the 3 sons Tolbert, Pharmer, & Randolph Jr. were tied to Pawpaw trees and brutally executed. Also 11.5 miles in Burnwell, KY (Across the Mountain) is the Aunt Betty McCoy Home Site, and across the street is where the love child of Johnse Hatfield & Rosanna McCoy is buried.
